Overview

Together with Kantonsspital St. Gallen, several large companies took part in a long-term COVID-19 testing study that enabled safer collaboration at the workplace during the pandemic.

For this study, we developed ichteste.ch from concept and design to implementation. Employees had to submit weekly self-reporting forms, record symptoms where relevant, and book test appointments at on-site stations. The platform supported a process that had to be both operationally reliable and easy to use for many participants.

What we built

The solution combined user-facing workflows, branded study environments, and technical integration into one coherent platform.

Weekly self-reporting and symptom collection

Employees regularly completed forms to report their current status and any relevant symptoms as part of the study process.

Online appointment booking for on-site test stations

Test appointments could be booked directly online, including dedicated time slots for organized on-site testing.

Company-specific branded study flows

The platform was branded for the participating companies while keeping the core process consistent across the study.

Laboratory and device integration

We connected the system to the testing devices so samples could be assigned directly to the correct person and certificates could be issued where needed.

The challenge

The challenge was to connect study logic, operational testing workflows, and technical device integration without making the process heavy or error-prone for participants.

  • 1

    Reliable process for many participants

The system had to support recurring reporting and testing workflows across several companies in a way that remained easy to use.

  • 2

Clear allocation of samples and people

The test process had to ensure that results and samples could be assigned correctly to the right participant at all times.

  • 3

    Branded but consistent company environments

Participating companies needed their own branded experience without fragmenting the underlying process logic.

  • 4

    Integration into real-world testing operations

The platform had to fit around real test stations, laboratory devices, and certificate-related workflows rather than acting as an isolated digital layer.
